Eida Director General bags Emarat Al Youm Award

The director general of the Emirates National Identity Authority (Eida) was selected as “person of the month” by Dubai-based Emarat Al Youm Arabic language daily, which introduced the award at the start of 2012.

Ali Al Khoury was given the award for his role in “performing the national ID project in a short period of time and setting up one of the world’s largest integrated demographic databases,” Emarat Al Youm Editor-in-Chief Sami Al Reyami said.

“He also played a key role in supporting the E-government efforts, opening new channels to interact with the country’s people and upgrading services to them.”

Emarat Al Youm, one of the region’s most popular Arabic language newspapers, launched that award to honour outstanding people for their role in the society, the first prize of its kind in the country.

An affiliate of the Dubai Media Incorporated, one of the largest media establishments in the region, Emarat Al Youm has said its editing board would pick the person at the end of each month.
