Emirates Transport to buy 722 buses

Hussain bin Ibrahim Al Hammadi, Minister of Education, and Chairman of Emirates Transport, has approved the purchase of 722 new buses to meet the growing demand for school transport in both public and private schools for the academic year 2015-2016.

Mohammed Abdullah Al Jarman, General Manager of Emirate Transport, said the new buses would cost Dh180 million, emphasising Emirates Transport's commitment to ensure the highest standards of safety, security and convenience of students. In terms of seat capacity, he added, 479 of the buses will be of 30 seats and 243 will be of 60 seats.

Emirates Transport buses are daily carrying 230,000 students attending 724 government and private schools across the UAE. The company employs 5,000 drivers and 5,500 transport and safety supervisors.
