Emirati adventurer's journey to the 'centre of the earth'

Emirati adventurer, Saeed Khamis Al Muammeri, is set to scale the world's deepest cave next week to highlight efforts of the UAE Down Syndrome Association, according to a statement issued by the association and adventurer, following the signing of Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).

Sonia Ahmed Al Hashimi, Chairperson of the UAE Down Syndrome Association, appreciated the initiative of Emirati adventurer, Al Muammeri, in promoting the society.

She stressed the role of Emirati youth to drawing attention to this category of people to help them.

On behalf of the association, Al Hashimi thanked Al Muammeri for his adventure, wishing him all the success.

She also commended sponsors of the adventure that will take Al Maumeri to the world's deepest cave in Georgia.

While there in the cave, Al Maummeri will hoist the UAE flag and post photos of the President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai and a photo of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan.

Down syndrome (DS), also known as trisomy 21, is a genetic disorder caused by the presence of all or part of a third copy of chromosome 21. Down syndrome is the most common chromosome abnormality in humans.
