An Emirati couple was found dead inside their vehicle in Dibba, Fujairah, according to a police official.

The deceased was a colonel from Ajman Police.

Initial investigations suggest the couple may have died after inhaling toxic fumes from the generator, which was used to power their vehicle. Forensic examination results are awaited, reports Emarat Al Youm.

The incident came to light when the operations room received a call on Sunday afternoon from a witness who claimed to have seen smoke coming out from a vehicle and informed cops.

A police official said when the rescue team arrived, the vehicle was full of smoke and the bodies inside.

Investigations are on to determine the exact cause of their deaths.

Man killed in Ajman petrol tank fire…disaster averted

A Pakistani man was killed after his diesel truck caught fire at a petrol filling company in Ajman and police said a disaster was averted after the fire spread to nearby tanks.

Firemen battling the flames at the company site in Jarf industrial zone managed to bring the fire under control after spreading to six diesel tanks with a capacity of 80,000 gallons each, according to police.

Three petrol trucks also caught and suffered from severe damage before the blaze was put out, they said, adding that they are investigating the cause of the fire.

"The blazes were extinguished before a disaster could happen...a worker was rushed to hospital with severe injuries and died two hours later," a police official said.
