Emirati killed in RAK; car catches fire in mall

One person was killed and two injured in separate accidents in Ras Al Khaimah over the weekend.

An Emirati was killed after his car rammed into a truck on Al Saadi Road on Saturday.

According to Col Abdullah Mankhas, Head, TRaffic and Petrol Department, RAK, the 23-year-old Emirati was killed when he was trying to evade another car that suddenly came over on to his lane. He swered and evade the car but in turn hit a heavy truck on the other lane killing him on the spot.

His body was taken to Saqr Hospital.

In another accident, a 21-year-old Emirati suffered moderate injuries when his car rammed into another vehicle driven by an Asian on Ghalila Road in Ras Al Khaimah.

Yet another Asian on a bicycle was hurt when a car ran into him on Saturday.

Car catches fire in Sharjah parking lot

Ramadan shoppers at a Sharjah shopping mall was in for a shock when a car in the parking lot caught fire on Saturday night.

Civil defence officials and firefighters took about 30 minutes to control the blaze.

No injuries were reported. There were no damage to others vehicles either.
