Emiratis, Asians top as cause of crashes

Emiratis and Asian expatriates have emerged as the main causers of road accidents, accounting for nearly two thirds of the mishaps in the first quarter of 2015.

Figures by the traffic police showed Emiratis were involved in 35 per cent of the first quarter traffic accidents while 34 per cent of the crashes were caused by Asians.

Arab expatriates were involved in 20 per cent of the road mishaps, according to the report, which blamed speeding, reckless driving, failure to stick to lane, negligence and jumping the red lights for most of the serious accidents.
