Employee admits stealing 30kg of gold power

A Filipino technician allegedly stole a 30 kilogrammes of gold powder worth more than Dh4 million from his employer’s jewellery company over two years period, the Dubai Criminal Court heard.

In 2009, the company found out the missing of 30Kgs of gold. On September, 19, 2011 the police arrested RRB while attempting to sell gold powder to a salesman in a jewellery shop, testified MHO, manager of the employer.

Corporal Ali Juma testified that police received information about a Filipino selling gold powder to a jewellery shop.

“We have observed the Gold Souq and saw RRB entering a shop. The salesman asked him to leave the shop as he knows police staff are in the Souq. As RRB left the shop, he was arrested with the powder with him,” testified the officer.

RRB confessed to stealing the powder he hiding it in his lunch box.

The Court adjourned the case for verdict until April 16.
