Employer fined Dh50,000 for illegal hiring

The UAE’s top court fined an employer Dh50,000 for hiring a worker sponsored by another company in line with tough laws introduced by the UAE to end anarchy in the job market, the press reported on Monday.

An appeals court in Fujeirah had annulled that sentence, prompting the prosecutor to resort to the Federal Supreme Court (FSC).

The FSC overturned the appeals court ruling and ordered the employer to pay Dh50,000 for violating labour laws. It also fined the worker Dh1,000 and ordered his deportation from the UAE.
