A Kyrgyz salesman who is accused of raping and committing indecent act with his Kazakh girlfriend denied the charges on Tuesday.

The accused, who claims to be an engineer, said he had consensual sex with 24-year-old YZ, the Dubai Criminal Court heard.

"I am an engineer and an educated person. How could they charge me with rape and detain me. I am not guilty. I didn't rape the girl, but we had consensual sex," argued, 34-year-old AC.

The suspect is accused of getting drunk and having sex with YZ against her will behind the building where she lived in Discovery Gardens.

"We had consensual sex and she did not mind… why am I being detained for something I didn't do? I have an engineering degree which is authenticated… I need a copy of the case file to prepare the defence," AC contended before Presiding Judge Al Saeed Mohammad Barghout.

According to the Prosecution sheet, AC visited YZ at her apartment and they went out and sat in the garden behind the building where he drank liquor. He allegedly tried to hug her and when she rejected his advancements, he raped her.

The victim said: "He came to visit me at my apartment… We sat in the backside garden and drank liquor. He started hitting me and when he tried to hug me, I refused. He absued and raped me. I tried to escape, but could not."
