Expatriate students in Abu Dhabi Education Council (Adec) schools can pay their delayed fee in installments over the next four months till December, Arabic daily Emarat Al Youm reported, quoting the educational authority of Abu Dhabi.

This facility is for the expatriate students only in order to protect their future and help them complete their studies in Adec schools.

The Council decided to allow students to continue their studies and start their academic year from the first day so that their education is not affected by the fee delay.

Adec noted that the number of students who couldn’t pay late tuition fee were less than 1,000.

However, parents of the students will submit a written undertaking to pay the arrears in accordance with the new mechanism.

Adec said it had reviewed social status of those students in Adec schools and agreed with charity organization to pay the fee of those students. There were a number of students who were not eligible to get financial help from charities in this matter. Those parents were asked to comply with the new mechanism and pay the fee or it would not register their children.

The educational authority affirmed that it informed parents about the dues regularly and sent letters also throughout the school year but they still missed the payments.

The Council pointed out that the tuition fee for the student is Dh6,000 per year from grade 1 to grade 12 for all schools.
