Father, 6 kids of Emirati family die in Oman; Mother critical

At least 12 people, including seven members of a UAE family, were killed in a tragic road accident when two cars collided with a trailer in Mughaisil area in Salalah on Monday evening.

Saif Abdullah Al-Haj Al-Kaabi of Al Ain City, his two sons Mohammed and Ahmed and four daughters Fatima, Afra, Hamda and Sara, died on the spot, while his wife was critical and admitted to Sultan Qaboos Hospital in Salalah, according to a Wam report.

The President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan has ordered two private planes to transport the bodies home.

The cause of the accident is being further investigated.

One child was also among other Omanis who lost their lives in the accident, reported Al Bayan.

Meanwhile, Juma Al-Jenaibi, Undersecretary of the UAE Foreign Ministry said, the ministry, in coordination with the Embassy of the UAE in Oman and Ambassador Abdul Redha Khouri, is following legal procedures related to the accident and the death of the family members, reports Wam.

The Ministry, he added, reiterates its keen interest in taking care of Emirati nationals abroad.

He urged Emiratis to be cautious and aware while travelling.

He prayed to The Almighty to bestow mercy on the souls of the victims of the accident and patience on their family.


Speeding car rams into man, splits body into two

An Arab man’s body was split into two after he was hit by a speeding car in Saudi Arabia, causing some people on the site to collapse.

The man was crossing the road in the southwestern town of Raghdan when the car which was moving at a high speed rammed into him.
“The body was split into two…the upper part was catapulted by the car for nearly 500 metres while the lower part remained at the accident site,” Kabar daily said.

“Some people who happened to be in the area fell unconscious after seeing the man’s body split into two parts.”
