Father of ill newborn twins appeals for financial help

An Egyptian man is appealing for financial help to save his new born twin girls who have been bed-ridden at Lateefa Hospital in Dubai for nearly six months, accumulating a treatment bill to nearly Dh1.26 million.

Abu Nariman said it is impossible to pay even a small part of the bill as his monthly salary is only Dh4,500, part of which is used for rent.

The man, who had waited for nine years for his wife to get pregnant, got quadruplets but two of them, a boy and a girl, died because of premature delivery in the fifth month. Two girls were left and had been in the intensive care unit for nearly six months before one of them was moved out for physiotherapy,

Abu Nariman, a public servant in Sharjah, said the treatment bill for the twins is expected to swell further as one daughter has just undergone a heart operation while the other needs intensive therapy for a while.

“When my wife delivered, she was so delighted after waiting all these years…we had wanted a baby but God the Almighty sent us four….two of them died while the remaining twins are receiving treatment,” he said.

“My wife is now suffering from a very bad psychological condition because of their death and the condition of the remaining twins…this has affected her ability to breastfeed the two girls….I now pray to God that some benevolent people will come forward and help us to save our children…my financial resources are very small and there is no way I will be able to pay all that bill,” he told the Dubai-based Arabic language daily Emirat Alyoum.
