12.30pm update: According to the Dubai Civil Defence, the Al Quasis warehouse fire is now under control, with teams still on the scene to contain the area.

An eyewitness to the incident said no injuries were sustained in the blaze, which broke out on Wednesday morning, with the DCD reportedly using drones to monitor the spread of fire to bring it under control swiftly.

While the cause of fire is still under investigation, workers in neighbouring warehouses stated the burned building housed beauty products and cosmetics.

Dubai Civil Defence has launched an operation to contain a fire that has broken out in a warehouse in Al Qusais Industrial Area.

The blaze was reported at approximately 10am, with Dubai Police posting on its official Twitter account: “Heavy fire broke out in a warehouse in Al Qusais Industrial Area.”

“We received a call in the operations room around 10am and several teams are currently on the scene trying to bring the fire under control,” a spokesperson from Civil Defence told Emirates 24|7 an hour after the blaze was reported.

“Currently, there is one warehouse that has been affected. The operation is still underway so it is too soon to comment on cause or if any injuries have been sustained.”

An eyewitness to the blaze said it was situated close to Zulekha Hospital, with traffic building up in the areas on Baghdad and Amman streets, with a black plume of smoke visible at a distance.
