A fire broke out at Skycourts residences earlier on Sunday, with Civil Defence confirming the matter is currently under investigation.

The fire was reported in the upper floors of Tower B, with emergency personnel arriving shortly after.

Civil Defence has confirmed the blaze started from the exterior of the tower, and no apartments have sustained 'too much damage'.

Speaking to Emirates 24|7, a spokesperson stated: “The operations room received a call at 8.14am and the blaze was officially put out by 11.34am.

“The fire broke out on the outer façade of Tower B and everyone was evacuated from the building as precaution.

“We are currently investigating the matter to locate the cause of the blaze. But as of now, only the exterior of the building is greatly damaged.”

However, residents who took to social media reporting the situation, stated the apartments on the 16th floor of Tower B have sustained the maximum damage, while the two floors above have also sustained damages as the blaze spread upwards.

Mani AA posted on Skycourts’ official FB homepage saying: “Apartments on the 16th floor of tower B are gutted. The whole fire department is here and they have managed to contain it though it did spread to the 17th and 18th floors.”

Pramod Mohan said smoke was reported in the passages, prompting the Civil Defence to evacuate everybody flat by flat.

A safety message was also posted with a resident further stating that a girl on the 13th floor was stuck and could not get out until the 'neighbours helped. Everyone please make sure that there is a spare key in your apartment when you leave kids or maids inside'.

Residents have reported that electricity and water supplies have been shut down in Tower B and C as precautionary measures.
