A fire broke out today afternoon in two cargo warehouses in Umm Ramool area, near Dubai International airport (Terminal 3) close to Festival City.

Civil defence official confirmed the report, but was unable to reveal more details. "We got a call 20 minutes ago, and our men are there," he said.

Firefighters are on the location and have controlled the blaze but still working to extinguish it.

There are several warehouses in the vicinity.

'Emirates24|7' reporting from the scene could confirm presence of at least four fire engines to minimise the damage.

The rescue team are also using cranes to control the fire. Ambulances have reached the location in case of any emergency.

The official, however, said no cases of casualties were reported so far.

Billowing black smoke could be seen from the warehouse fire.
