A major fire broke out Saturday evening in a paints factory in Jebel Ali, with remnants of the blaze still smouldering today.

According to the Dubai Civil Defence, the call was received at 6.36pm, with fire-fighters battling the blaze for hours to bring it under control.

Speaking to ‘Emirates24|7’, a spokesperson for DCD said: “We received the call at 6.36pm and brought the fire under control by 2.22am.

“The fire had spread across two warehouses that housed paint and plastic, which is why it took longer to bring under control.”

The spokesperson added that due to the nature of the materials that caught fire, the blaze was still smouldering a day after.

The DCD also confirmed no injuries were sustained in the fire. However, an investigation is now underway with Dubai Police to determine the cause.

The authority has also released a video of the fiery inferno.
