Female Emirati public prosecutor honoured

The Attorney-General of Abu Dhabi, Ali Mohammed Abdullah Al Balushi, honoured Alia Mohammed Al Kaabi, the first woman public prosecutor in the UAE, as part of celebrations of the Emirati Women's Day, which was observed on August 28.

In his address during the ceremony, Al Balushi emphasised the public prosecution's commitment to empower women, noting that the performance of women in practical life over the years had proven the merit, efficiency and dedication of Emirati women.

''Honouring counsellor Alia recognises and underscores the success of women in the public prosecution sector, as it has constituted a qualitative addition to the judiciary and filled an urgent need for women in family prosecution,'' he added.

Al Kaabi joined the judiciary as the first Emirati woman public prosecutor on September 3, 2007, and was then transferred to family prosecution on September 25, 2012.  Currently, she is the Senior Public Prosecutor.
