Freebies advertised on Facebook is not a genuine deal.
Dubai-based telecom operator Du is running a subscription campaign on social media, offering free air tickets to 23 destinations along with other freebies.
Even as the campaign remains genuine, some users doubted its authenticity when a channel partner of Du shared the campaign through her personal profile on Facebook, making the deal appear less-than-genuine.
The advert posted on social media promises free 2-way tickets to those who subscribe to the offer along with free minutes of talk time, free SMSs, monthly charge waiver and free data.
According to a Du spokesperson, “The advertisement posted on the JBR - Dubai Marina - JLT - Emirates Hills Facebook page is a legitimate customer proposition solution that is offered through one of our alternative channel partners.
“However, offering Du products and promotions on social media using personal profiles is against our company guidelines. We have identified the individual and notified our channel partner accordingly.
"We regret any inconvenience and confusion that this social media advertisement may have caused. Our customers may get in touch with our customer care team for any further clarification,” he told Emirates 24|7.
