The Fujairah municipality has launched the 'My Project Licence' that allows citizens of the municipality to start business activities from home, as per the  decision of Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad bin Mohammed Al Sharqi, Crown Prince of Fujairah.

The civic body issued 17 licences in record time, said Abdullah Al Hantoubi, deputy-director of the municipality. The licenced activities include processing and preparation of meals, confectionery, clothing and incense, he noted.

He explained that these licences are aimed at encouraging Emirati youth and families to enter into the business sector and engage in economic activities from home. These activities can contribute to raising the standard of living and supporting the national economy.

The issuing fee for the licence is estimated at AED100 and is exempted from the registration fee of the Fujairah Chamber of Commerce and Industry and any other local fees, Al Hantoubi noted. These licences will also enable small investors and productive families to participate at exhibitions and other events, he added.

An applicant must be a citizen residing in the Emirate of Fujairah, and should be over 21 years of age. However, those between the ages of 18 and 21 will be allowed to engage in business activities after approval of their guardians, he said. The licence should not be leased to others or used by expatriates with the exception of workers at home, Al Hantoubi added.
