It's Dubai Summer Surprises time and the rainbow is leading to a pot of gold in the form of a Dh2 million bounty, including six exclusive cars to drive home in this shopping season.

The 17th edition of DSS is serving up a month of events, attractions and prizes lined up for residents and visitors.

Organised by Dubai Festivals and Retail Establishment (DFRE), DSS 2014 will run till September 5 under the theme ‘The Fun Side of Summer’.

Shoppers spending Dh200 at a participating mall stand the chance to win up to Dh2m worth of prizes including six BMW cars.

Raffle draws will be held each week with one person winning a luxury car every Saturday until September 6.

The final week’s draw will see one additional winner walking away with the mega bumper prize of this year’s promotion, a BMW X5.

Meanwhile, Nakheel is also hosting a ‘Spin & Win’ at Ibn Battuta, giving visitors a chance at the six cars and to nab vouchers worth Dh500,000.

In addition, Dh60,000 worth of vouchers from some of the mall’s retailers can be won through the Sama Dubai promotion. Ibn Battuta will be hosting Sama Dubai Live TV shows on August 14, 15 and 16.

Omar Khoory, Director of Nakheel Retail, said: “Nakheel is delighted to support this year’s Dubai Summer Surprises. Ibn Battuta is preparing to welcome hundreds of thousands of visitors who will experience unrivalled shopping, entertainment and promotions throughout the event.”

The Emirates National Oil Company (Enoc) has rolled out its own campaign until September 5, 2014, offering customers the opportunity to ‘shop and live for free’ for an entire year.

The grand prize of Enoc’s ‘Shop and Live for Free’ campaign is one year’s house rent, school fees, grocery shopping vouchers, telecom services and car lease, among others, worth Dh200,000.

Additionally, five lucky winners will receive grocery shopping vouchers valued at Dh500 every week.

Burhan Al Hashemi, Managing Director of Enoc Retail, said in a statement: “Enoc’s ‘Shop and Live for Free’ campaign is aimed at not only strengthening the retail sector but also to reward our loyal customers for their patronage.

“It has been designed to make a positive difference to the lives of the winners, meeting their diverse requirements in daily life all through the year. The prizes will be a great incentive for Dubai residents and visitors, who can win big through a nominal spend.”

To participate, customers have to spend Dh20 at Zoom stores on products excluding phone, Salik and parking cards. Those spending Dh30 on car wash services, Dh100 for an oil change or for any AutoPro product and service will also be eligible.

Five customers will be drawn for the Zoom grocery vouchers worth Dh500 every week.

The non-winning tickets will go into the draw for the grand prize that includes house rent of up to Dh100,000 per year or the current lease contract, whichever is lower; school fees of up to Dh20,000 or actual school fees, whichever is lower, for two children; grocery vouchers for Zoom at Dh500 for 52 weeks; telecom services from Etisalat at Dh500 per month for a year; and car lease of up to Dh1,600 per month for the year.

The grand draw will be held on September 5, 2014.

Additionally ‘Live for Free’ promo packs are also on offer. Customers who buy an Etisalat promo pack worth Dh35 will receive an Etisalat recharge card worth Dh25, six raffle coupons for Enoc’s ‘Live for Free’ campaign, and discount vouchers from Aster Pharmacy, Burger King, ChicKing, Dreamland, KidZania, Hardee’s, KFC, Krispy Kreme, McDonald’s, Pronto, Texas Chicken and Wendy’s.
