Setting a good example of philanthropy to others, an Emirati businessman has taken the initiative to provide lighting for a 1.5km-long road in Ras Al Khaimah at his own expensive, for which people living in the area had been waiting for more than three years, according to a report in the ‘Al Khaleej’ Arabic daily newspaper.

Ali Issa Al Mutawa, who is also a government official from the Al Dhait area of the Emirate, said his project was implemented with the cooperation of the Department of Public Works and Services and other  authorities in Ras Al Khaimah.  He also installed a power generator and provided it with its daily requirement of diesel.

Al Mutawa also planted palms and ‘sidr’ trees for 4km along the same road in 2010. He also planted trees along University Union Road. He also arranged for watering the trees along both roads for almost five years by providing a machine for desalinating water at his expense.

Al Mutawa has also built a number of water fountains along the Emirate’s highways. He is currently building a mosque in the area.

He had sought Ras Al Khaimah Municipality’s permission four year ago to build a public park in the area at his expense.
