Get to typing centre to avert fine: Eida

Dubai residents can avert paying fines for delayed ID issuance after the end of May by just visiting an authorized typing centre and have an application form filled, according to ID authorities.

The Emirates National Identity Authority (EIDA) urged Emiratis and expatriates in the Gulf’s business hub to register for a new or renewal of their ID card before the expiry of the May 31 deadline to avoid paying Dh20 fine a day, which could reach a maximum Dh1,000.

“Visiting EIDA’s typing centres and having an application form filled will allow residents in Dubai to avert paying delay fines, which will be enforced from June 1,” EIDA said in a statement carried by the official news agency WAM.

“We appeal for all citizens and expatriates to visit typing centres and have that form filled so they can be given an appointment for registration.”

EIDA also called on expatriates who want to renew their residence visa and those who apply for a new visa to have a form filled at a typing centre before reporting to the registration centre at preventive medicine centres.

“There, the applicants can have a blood test for their residence and register for the ID at the same time,” the statement said.
