Have you always wanted to see your creation on a public card? This is your chance: you could have your picture of Dubai printed on the next batch of Nol cards.

The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has encouraged the public to post their best pictures of Dubai on Twitter. The winning pictures will be used as an emblem on the widely used Nol card - the payment method for transportation services in Dubai.

“The contest aims at bringing more diversity to the design and shape of NoI cards through enticing social network users, who are dominating the media, to send their best shots in any field about Dubai through the hash tag #NOLGRAM, explained Moza Al Murri, Director of Marketing and Corporate Communication, RTA.

Several themes will be announced, with ‘Dubai Heritage’ running as the theme last week. “The contest consists of photos of relevance to the heritage of Dubai such as Sheikh Saeed House, traditional souks, Shindagha area, abras and other images pertaining to the national identity and authentic traditions of the Dubai emirate.”

Other themes that will be announced are dazzling neighbourhoods of the city such as Burj Khalifa, Burj Al-Arab, parks, beaches and new tourist attractions,  public transit means as the Metro and the marine transit mode, shots of nature and scenes depicting the same creative sense in the world of children, modern sports world, and Emirati woman who has had a glorious past and effective role in enriching the culture of the local community.

Conditions of the contest include that images have to be created by contestants themselves, and the winning photo shall be owned by the RTA exclusively and may not be used by others.

“The RTA previously issued NoI cards displaying heritage and modern landmarks of Dubai as a means of acquainting visitors and residents with the iconic features of the emirate.

“In this contest the RTA is offering a new photography category with the aim of broadening the scope of youth participation and benefiting from their sense of creativity in developing a distinctive shape for NoI cards capable of enhancing the beauty and exclusivity of these cards, added Moza.
