The closing weekend is here and buyers waiting for those last-minute discounts at the Gitex Shopper have until Saturday to grab those killer deals while they still can.

The eight-day event, which comes to a close on October 6 at the Dubai World Trade Centre, will have an extended time up to 11pm to shop for that bargain, with organisers having earlier confirmed that over Dh50 million have been invested in bundles and freebies this year.

Emirates 24|7 too has window-shopped these past few days to bring you the last chance deals that buyers cannot afford to miss out on these final two days.

Say cheese for killer camera deals

Photography equipment has historically been one of the top selling products at previous GITEX Shoppers, with Jumbo Electronics CEO Vishesh Bhatia confirming the same earlier, saying: “Photography is another big category that has proved to be a hot buy at the Shopper every year. We are quite confident this trend will continue.”

And why not, when deals on top brand DSLR cameras have people zipping into a buying frenzy.

So which one to buy, you ask? Well, we love the Nikon D3100 DSLR with 14.2 megapixels and full HD video recording. The offers are even better, with almost every retailer in Gitex Shopper offering some killer deals on this particular model.

The top favourites emerging is Sharaf DG’s Dh2,999 bundle offer, which includes an extra lens, an external camera flash, a Sony PSP worth Dh599m, a 4GB SD card and a carry case.

Plus, its fine print states: ‘Buy any DSLR and get a free 16GB SD card and a tripod.’

How does one beat this? Well, Grand Stores offers a slight lower bundle offer of Dh2,699 but some add- ons that include two lens, a carry case, an 8GB SD card, Dh1,370 in vouchers that include accessories, extended warranty and more.

Size does matter, with a little bling

“The top trend in the television market today is not just the 3D feature or how smart your TV is, but size really does play a factor in this,” said Ashish Panjabi, COO of Jacky’s Electronics.

We are not surprised then that both LG and Samsung chose the Shopper to launch their latest additions to the market, with the former’s 55-inch OLED TV and the latter’s 75-inch ES9000 LED Smart TV, in conjunction with Eros Group.

And the buzz that has generated since their launch at Shopper has made these two top exclusive buys that emerge as talking points at any home.

Commenting on the launch of Samsung LED ES9000, Niranjan Gidwani, deputy CEO of Eros Group, said, “October is the time when consumers look forward to new technology and products. The new Samsung LED ES9000 excels not just in quality and functionality but also in features and design.”

The super-sized TV comes with a built-in camera  hidden within the top of the bezel, making it invisible when not in use.

Finally, the application of a luxurious rose-gold-coloured finish to the entire body of the set makes it one of the most unique and attractive smart TVs to date.

The Samsung ES9000 retails at a cool Dh39,999. But if bling is your thing, grab this while you can.

Take a 'Note' of this

Samsung’s flagship Android tablet the Galaxy Note 10.1 is available a discounted price of Dh1,999 at Sharaf DG, while averaging Dh2,599 at most retailers.

The tablet’s  features include a multi-screen functionality and S Pen compatibility.

Samsung has slotted in a 5MP rear camera on Note 10.1. The camera with LED flash, autofocus and geo-tagging can take video at 720p. A 1.9MP front camera is there for video chatting. The tablet comes in both Wi-Fi and LTE versions. For connectivity, you also have Wi-Fi Direct, Wi-Fi hotspot, Bluetooth 4.0, Infrared port and USB 2.0 on the machine.

And it comes preloaded with Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich (ICS). However, it is upgradeable to the new Android 4.1 Jelly Bean.

Lap it up

Those on the hunt for that ideal home laptop may want to head to Jacky’s for the Lenovo bundle offers.

COO Ashish Panjabi said: “The Lenovo series is flying out of here, with our bundle offers on the S300 and S400 range, which start at Dh2,699 and include a free netbook. Plus, buyers can still have the chance of winning a Nikon camera every 10 minutes.”
