A gang of four burglars have been arrested with stolen jewellery, electronic devices and cash.

The Dubai Police used satellite technology to track the suspects, all Africans, and identified as LS, MH, AA and MB.

The four were arrested at 6pm, after they had robbed a villa and where moving the loot to a hotel in Naif in a red car Toyota Yaris.

They were arrested by police at Clock Tower, in a quick operation that did not affect traffic.

They would sneak into villas at night when the roads were deserted and reportedly had already robbed more than 10 villas.

Dubai Police Commander, Lieutenant General Dhahi Khalfan Tamim and Deputy Chief of Police Major General Khamis Mattar Al Mazeina, hailed the Criminal Investigation Department’s efforts for arresting the gang.

Director of CID, Brigadier Khalil Ibrahim Al Mansouri, hinted that the gang had adopted a modus operandi reminiscent of one earlier used by certain African burglars who had served time in jail.

“Sometimes they change their tactics to rob from villas in broad daylight taking advantage of residents being away at work.

The CID Deputy Director for Search and Investigation, Colonel Salem Khalifa Al Rumaithi, said, “The gang was getting are rid of empty safes in garbage bins in the Jumeirah and Rashidiya areas.”

The police has seized gold, jewellery, watches, laptops and other electronic devices plus huge amounts of cash from the hotel room of the accused.
