A guard has allegedly stolen power cables worth Dh600 from a villa under construction. The property belongs to the ruling family.

On April 10, AKB, 28, who worked as a guard in the Engineering Office of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, stole power cables from a villa under construction at Al Barsha 3, which belongs to Sheikh Mohammed’s son Sheikh Mansour.

AKB made a deal with another worker, AAA, to sell the cables for Dh235. AAA has been accused of criminal complicity.

Two policemen patrolling at Al Barsha 3 area caught AAA carrying power cables on his head.

“The moment he saw us, he threw away the cables and ran away, but we chased and arrested him,” Salem Mohammed Salem, 30, policeman testified before the prosecution.

When asked about the source of the cables, AAA, said that he bought them from AKB from a construction site in the same area for about Dh300.

AAA led the two policemen to the site where AKB confessed to his crime and admitted receiving Dh235 from AAA for the cables, which were not scrap material and he was not authorised to sell any property.

AAA confessed before the Prosecution that as per his agreement with AKB, he was supposed to sell the cables and share the money with him.

The Court adjourned the case for Verdict until October 6.
