He eats 10,000 calories of healthy food everyday

Hafþór Júlíus “Thor” Björnsson is a man you probably don’t want to get into a fight with, or even upset for that matter.

One look at him is all it takes.

He stands at 6 foot 9 inches, which was his height when he turned 15 years old. He had stopped growing tall, but he’s ‘still growing sideways though’, he says with a smile. Weighing more than 400 lbs, he’s a tower of strength!

Speaking to ‘Emirates 24|7’, Hafþór explained, “I’ve pulled airplanes, I’ve picked up cars, I do things that regular people don’t understand.”

Hafþór’s native Icelandic language is similar to the Nordic language spoken by the Vikings.

And in true Viking spirit, his appetite is no different. His daily diet is a little more than 10,000 calories.

“For breakfast I usually have up to 10 eggs with around 300 grams of oats and some strawberries, I eat a lot, but mostly healthy food, and everything that’s on my plate,” he explains.

You would probably have a similar breakfast if you had to do the things this guy does on a daily basis. One of his main tasks is lifting.

Heavy lifting was nothing new to this Icelander. Hafþór was also seen picking up some of his fans at last weekend’s IGN convention in Dubai.

Well, he is that strong, and in fact, Iceland knows that, too, and have named him ‘the nation’s strongest man’ for the fourth consecutive year. He also recently finished second in the 2014 World Strongest Man competition in the US.

He is one of the most feared (and largest) members on the show. What’s more, the sword he uses on the show for the fight scenes is the size of a human being.

Hafþór says the role of The Mountain was destined for him, after only one audition.

“They were filming in Iceland last year, and they heard about this big strong talented guy and they decided to come with me and see me and see if I was good for the part,” he said.

He continued, “And guess what? I blew them away! They saw me, saw how strong I was, how quick, how young and hungry I was for the success.”

I asked him if it was possible that the directors were simply too scared to say no to him, to which The Mountain responded with a smile, “I think so, that’s very possible!”

Hafþór’s terrifying on-screen persona is nothing close to his real-life personality. He’s actually very sweet and polite, and it would be hard to imagine him killing someone with his bare hands.

Well, unless you really upset him.
