Heated bread stored in freezer 'deadly poison' not true: Dubai Municipality

Dubai Municipality has refuted rumours of bread stored in freezer turning into deadly position when heated.

Khalid Al Awadhi, Executive Director of Food Safety Department confirmed that the municipality is putting efforts to maintain the public health and to protect the public from any risks.

He pointed out that the department represented by the Department of Studies and Food Planning responds to those rumors out of its care to clarify the facts to build scientific references and global credited legislations, including the rumour concerning the bread which is considered inaccurate, because the plastic that is used for the bread does not contain the dioxin that was mentioned in the rumour.

The hot bread can't turn to a toxic substance just because it was stored incorrectly.

Putting hot bread in a plastic bag can cause damage due to the possibility of moisture from water due to the bread temperature. This is what accelerates the bread damage and its putrefaction.

Based on the above, we would like to emphasise that what was stated in the rumour is not true at all nor it relies on scientific references, the municipality said.

Last week, the Municipality quashed the rumours of the presence of alcohol in Milka Oreo Chocolate, calling it was “translation error".

In July, Emirates 24l7 reported that the municipality, through its initiative to quash rumours ‘Al Khabar Al Yaqeen’, has responded to over 35 rumours on social media networking sites, causing confusion among the members of the community since the start of the initiative launched in June 2015.
