Dubai Police had to give a tough chase before nabbing two reckless drivers in separate incidents.

Both attempted to flee when intercepted by police patrols, said a top police official, who claimed that one of the drivers was nabbed when he crashed into a house. Both the drivers have been charged with endangering others’ lives and creating chaos, he added.

Major-General Mohammad Saif Al Zafeen, Director, General Directorate, Dubai Traffic, said, a Nissan Patrol was being recklessly driven in Al Tawar area late at night causing nuisance to residents.

While a jeep swerved in front of police patrols in Bur Dubai and dashed off refusing to stop when intercepted, revealed a top police official.

Maj-Gen Zafeen said that the department received a tip-off about a four-wheel that was cruising recklessly from one lane to another towards Etihad Road on Garhoud Bridge on its way to Sharjah.

When the military patrol attempted at stopping him, the driver ignored the officials and sped off, he added.

However, the patrol noted his registration number and tracked him down. The car was jazzed up with extra accessories that violate traffic rules, the official added.

Meanwhile, the department received several complaints regarding the other vehicle from residents of the area who feared for their lives.

Maj-Gen Zafeen said police team stopped the driver while he was zooming past at break-neck speed, swerving from left to right.

This driver also attempted to flee, but the police team chased him and he crashed into a house gate nearby.

The patrol member then called up the residents of that house only to learn that it was his home. His car had no licence plate.

Maj-Gen Zafeen said that both the drivers have been charged with endangering the lives of others and causing chaos.
