Higher Organising Committee of WEF holds 3rd meeting

The Higher Organising Committee of the World Energy Forum 2012 (WEF), formed by Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman of The Supreme Council of Energy (SCE) in line with the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, held its third meeting today at the headquarters of the Dubai Electricity and Water Authority.

The meeting was chaired by Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, Vice Chairman of The SCE and Vice Chairman of the Higher Organising Committee, in the presence of Major General Khamis Mattar Al Mazeina, Deputy Commander-in-Chief of Dubai Police, Ahmed Abdullah Al Sheikh, MD and CEO of Dubai Media Incorporated, Matar Mohammed Al Tayer, Chairman of the Board and CEO of RTA, Major General Mohammed Ahmed Al Marri, Director General of the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs, Khalid Bin Sulayem, Director General of the Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing, other members of the Committee, and Khawla Al Mehairi, Secretary of the Committee.

The meeting focused on the latest developments and updates related to the Forum that will be hosted by Dubai during 22nd to 24th October 2012 at Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre under the theme World Leaders Forum

During the meeting, the agenda and the progress of the committees of the Forum were discussed.

Also, the meeting tackled the progress achieved during the visit made by the delegation of the Dubai Supreme Council of Energy to the United States of America last April.

The committee also approved the recommendations related to issuing special coins and stamps that will be distributed on this important occasion, as well as the media plan, hospitality programmes, budgets and procedures as part of the preparations for the Forum. The forums aims to create a global platform for sustainable energy and promote worldwide discussions related to sustainable energy, and set a roadmap to formulate a system for energy sustainability for the benefit of all the peoples of the world.

This Forum will promote a new global system, which will support global economy and social development of all the member states of the United Nations, and will also launch a global drive that will provide cleaner, safer and more sustainable energy for all the countries of the world.

Also the Committee discussed the recommendations of the Executive Committee related to the decisions and sponsorships required for this high-profile Forum that fosters Dubai’s leading position as a global hub for finance, business, trade, research, renewable energy and sustainability.
