A two and a half year old Emirati girl is lying at Dubai hospital in critical condition after developing inflammatory brain fluids and her father is blaming Dhaid government hospital for the lapse in his daughter’s condition.

Nour Abdullah Mohammed was admitted into Dhaid hospital on Sunday with a high temperature but her condition started to worsen because of negligence by doctors and the absence of a CT scan x-ray equipment, her father said, quoted by the Dubai-based Arabic language daily Emirat Alyoum.

“I think my daughter’s treatment could have been simple as she only had high temperature, which is normal for a child in Nour’s age…but doctors at Dhaid hospital failed to properly deal with her case…her temperature then started to rise further and she began to lose consciousness,” he said.

“She had to be scanned but we discovered that the hospital, which is one of the most important health ministry hospitals that is supposed to provide treatment to thousands of people, does not have a CT scan system…this further aggravated my daughter’s condition as doctors could not diagnose her illness.”

Abdullah said the hospital management decided to transport Nour to another specialized hospital but they claimed they could not find a vacant bed.

“I then called the Dubai health department, which responded positively and provided my daughter with a bed…what angered me further was that Dhaid hospital did not have a properly equipped ambulance for such cases so I had to again call the Dubai health department, which sent an ambulance.”

Emirat Alyoum quoted a Dubai hospital official as saying Nour was admitted with high temperature of 41 degrees and failure in her respiratory system.

“An initial medical report at Dubai hospital showed Nour’s condition is not stable as her brain is not functioning properly…she is lying in the intensive care unit in critical condition and is not showing any response.”
