Emirates 24/7 proudly announces the winner of our House of Books initiative launched in support of the #UAEReads drive implemented by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, to mark 2016 as the Year of Reading in the UAE.

Each winner gets an iPad.

Speaking to E24|7, J Ahmed, an Emirati from Ras Al Khaimah, said: “The initiative encourages schoolchildren to read because there is a lack of interest in the school library.”

She added: “The initiative helps students to read books to win the award and the student discovers his talent for reading books. A lack of reading led to a lack of culture among students.”

Tamem Farhan, is a 5-year-old British winner of the Emirates 24|7 initiative (House of Books).

His mother said that she encourages her children to read from an early age and her son Tamem loves to read all the time.
Her older son Hashim Farhan, 11-years-old, also participated in the ‘House of Books’ and reads one book at least every month.
She loved the initiative very much and said, “It not only encourages people to read, but also reveals their creative side.”

Joanna Marie Del Mundo, a 13-year-old Filipino, also a winner, says she collected 41 books and has read more than 10 new books in May.

“I think the #UAEReads initiative is the best way to encourage more people to read books, so that they can gain more knowledge and open up their imagination.”

Emirates 24| under its ‘House of Books’ initiative encouraged its readers to gather as many books as they can and build with them – along the lines of House of cards.

“This is our campaign to support the #UAEReads initiative implemented by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, to mark 2016 as the Year of Reading in the UAE,” said Khadeeja Al Marzooqi, Editor-in-Chief of Emirates 24|7.
