Housemaid kills woman and her daughter

She stabbed her employer 70 times and set bedroom on fire after locking in the body and the child

Ras Al Khaimah Police has arrested an Ethiopian housemaid suspected of murdering a Moroccan woman and her daughter in their home on Saturday.

The 21-year-old housemaid allegedly stabbed the 35-year-old woman about 70 times. She then locked the woman’s body along with her two-and-a-half-year-old daughter in the bedroom of their apartment and set it on fire, police said.

Firefighters were alerted and managed to control the fire within a few minutes.

Lt-Col Salem Sultan Al Darmaki, Chief of the RAK CID, said the mother’s body had minor burns but was stabbed several times. The child had died of suffocation.

The victim’s husband, a UAE national, informed police that they had hired the housemaid just 10 days ago.

The housemaid, some money, gold and a mobile phone belonging to the victim were found missing after the incident.

The RAK CID arrested the suspect from her friend’s house in Sharjah within 24 hours.

During interrogation, the housemaid confessed to the crime and admitted that she did it because her employer was very abusive. She admitted to stabbing the victim with a knife after a scuffle when her employer threatened to sack her.

It's time for nations to examine why maids and lowly paid workers act like this. There are many cases like this. Why? Reason is... you treat them well and they treat you well.

I am realy sorry for the victim and the accused. specially for the little sweet girl. As a mother I cried. It is a short time to take a decision in ten days. I feel sorry for the housemaid too. We Ethiopians are suffering always because of poverty. Please do not think killing would be a solution.

As a mother, I am sorry for the kid. She had nothing to do with it and didn't deserve it. For the mother, she got what she deserved.

It is not surprising. The remains of many Ethiopian come home many times a year. Nobody is writting about this issue. How can people exaggerate this? I wonder if the Ethiopian government can ban immigrants to go to Arab countries.

I'm really sorry by the events. But I have a question. Why do most employers abuse their servants?

I feel sorry for the poor family and very disappointed to hear the news as an Ethiopian. This is far from our culture.

There we go again. They tell us she confessed. I doubt it. She must be a hired killer or a mentally disturbed person. I wonder if she is the one.

Very sad news. People migrated from different continents living in many countries. But abusive acts are constantly carried out in some countries. Many employers do not know the concepts of human rights. They do not give enough food to their maids, beating them, confiscating their belongings and monthly salaries. It is a shame even the media does not give this due attention.

Sorry for the deceased. It should not have happened. But, in several Middle East countries where thousands of maids flock from developing countries, they are abused. Most of the housewives are not educated are. We are sorry for this ignorance and inhuman treatment.

I am against killings. No one get solutions from killings. However, abusive acts lead many housemaids to such a kind of evil doing. I heard many stories in Middle East about housewives' inhuman treatments of their maids.

I feel sorry for the kid. But the maids are abused physically and mentally. But 10 days of work is too short to make this evil decision. To the employers - your domestic workers are human beings with feelings. So respect them.

This happens when you push things too far. Mentally abused and stressed out results in this criminal act .

    Ethiopian sisters face harsh abuse.

Let us put it this way.. first, my deepest sympathy to the families of the woman and her children who lost their life. But what is the evidence that the Ethiopian woman did it. What if some one else did it. But if she realty did it, it is not the Ethiopian culture to kill someone. In Ethiopia, women don't do this but once they come to the Middle East they get abused by their masters in an inhuman way. They are physically, emotionally and mentally abused by their masters.

Well, the end did not justify the means. Both parties have done something wrong and that is what they got. The thing is everyone just have to learn something out of the story and do something about it. We hear thousands of stories of this type but till now measures are still not in place. Sad indeed.

My heartfelt sympathy to all deceased in this family. However, this sort of problem always comes due to the unlimited abuse from employers. I would like to advise please you: Please behave like humans and then others will respect your dignity.

I don't appreciate the evil thing, but women are so abusive and there have been cases of deaths of housemaids they hired from Ethiopia and other countries.

Though it is illegal to killl someone, we should also think of the housemaid because we are witnessing so many abusive things from employers who discriminate humanity, morally mentally and physically.
