We all look forward to celebrate festival with families, and residents in UAE will get this opportunity during Eid Al Fitr next month.
Astronomers forecast that the month of Shaaban will have 30 days, so Ramadan moon will be sighted on Wednesday, June 17, and the holy month will begin from Thursday, June 18, 2015.
According to Sharjah Planetarium’s astronomical calculations, the month of Ramadan will have 29 days of fasting and Eid Al Fitr – the first day of Shaawal – will be on Friday, July 17.
As per these calculations, private sector employees may not be looking to have a longer weekend because Eid will be during the weekend.
But if the current Islamic month of Shaaban and the next month of Ramadan are estimated of 29 days, then Eid will be on Thursday, July 16. Then, private sector will have three days holidays - Thursday, Friday and Saturday.
Sharjah Planetarium calculations forecast that the month of Ramadan for Hijri year 1436 is likely to fall on Thursday, June 18, 2015, while Eid Al Fitr will be on Friday, July 17, 2015.
However, if the calculations made by the Planetarium come true, the biggest beneficiary will be those private sector employees who avail Saturday and Sunday as weekly offs.
An official announcement for private sector Eid holidays is expected during mid-Ramadan.
Public sector
Meanwhile, public sector in the UAE will most likely have a three-day weekend depending on astronomers’ calculations on moon sighting.
According to Abu Dhabi Government website, public sector will have three days holidays starting July 17.
It must be noted that both Ramadan and Eid Al Fitr holiday dates are subject to moon sighting.
