The waste management department at Dubai Municipality said it is all set to welcome the Holy month of Ramadan. It has prepared intensified supervision schedules, arranged for increased tools and equipment, scheduled free services and is already spreading awareness messages in order to maintain the highest level of cleanliness in the emirate of Dubai.

Abdul Majeed Saifaie, Director of Waste Management Department, said the monitoring system has been deployed to work round-the-clock to cover notifications and complaints as well as to oversee the workflow at all sites.

“Apart from the regular services, the department has formed an emergency team equipped with advanced facilities to receive and take action on urgent notifications and complaints in addition to a special beach monitoring team,” Saifaie said.

“We urge the public to reduce waste as much as possible during Ramadan and keep the emirate clean. The department also issued a leaflet to educate the public on how to reduce waste especially during Ramadan,” he said.

“The department would focus on cleaning of drainages, express ways, and public health utilities. It will also undertake transportation of huge sized wastes free of cost directly from houses. This facility can be availed by requesting through the customer care centre of the civic body,” Saifaie added.

Specific waste treatment areas are prepared in Al Qusais, Bayadha, Jebel Ali to work round the clock including catering to hazardous and medical waste treatment from 7am to 12pm.

Moreover, there would be educational and awareness programmes for public in the form of messages through smartphones, email, radio and TV channels to reduce waste through the rationalisation of spending and avoiding lavishness in daily purchases.
