How to track scores of Abu Dhabi school mergers this year: there’s an app for it

Abu Dhabi will host 11 new schools this year, has closed a number of small villa schools, and there will be mergers, or transfer of students in at least 20 of its schools.

So, as a parent, how do track which school your child (and her/his friends) are supposed to report once schools reopen after the summer break, and where exactly is that school located?

Simple, use Abu Dhabi Education Council’s (Adec) new app to find out.

Adec’s new electronic application is designed to assist parents and stakeholders to learn more about school merging system in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, the council said in a media statement.

The app will help provide parents via interactive maps with information concerning school locations where their children will be transferred to in the academic year 2013/2014.

Adec announced that, during the new academic year, 11 new schools will be opened, including six in Abu Dhabi and five in Al-Ain.

The new app provides parents with interactive maps in Arabic and English enabling them to recognise new schools or those to be closed through various colors that are shown in the keymap/legend.

Through using a student ID, parents will be able to identify previous schools as well as new school locations that will appear on the map. The map also shows illustrations of schools to be closed and merged into new school buildings, in addition to student placement and transport of students to and from schools.

Mohammad Salem Al-Dhaheri, Adec’s Executive Director of School Operations, said that providing students with state-of-the-art school buildings comes in line with Abu Dhabi government’s efforts to establish world-class school facilities that would provide students and teachers with an attractive educational environment.

Al-Dhaheri pointed out that the new school facilities have large capacities that can accommodate up to 1,500 students and aim to optimize utilization of school resources, reduce the cost of annual operational processes, minimize the daily transportation load, invest human and financial resources and save time and effort.

“The merging plan takes into account geographical locations to best serve students. The new application shall clarify merger plan and student distribution among schools using student ID or school name and it provides detailed data regarding schools,” added Al-Dhaheri.

According to the plan, the following schools shall be merged or the students of which shall be transferred and distributed/relocated to other schools as follows:

Abu Dhabi

Students of Al Mutanabbi C3 boy’s school shall be distributed among Khalifa Bin Zayed C3 Boys School and Abu Dhabi C3 boys school according to student geographical location.

Students of Abdullah Bin Otaiba C2 boy’s school and students of Abdul Jaleel Al Faheem C2 Boys School shall be transferred to a C2 boy’s school under the name “Abdul Jaleel Al Faheem School”, at the location of the former Fatimah Bint Mubarak School.

Students of Al Shawamekh C2 boy’s school and students of Abdullah Bin Rawaha C2 Boys School shall be transferred to the new C2 boy’s school under the name “Al Mutanabbi School” in Baniyas Area.

Students of Jaber Bin Hayyan C1 boy’s school shall be distributed among Mubarak Bin Mohammad C1 boy’s school and Al Bateen C1 boys school according to student geographical location.

Some students of Al Asalah C1 Girls School, Al Tafawwoq C1 boy’s school and Al Aasimah C1 boy’s school shall be transferred to a C1 Co-Ed school under the name “Al Qemmah School” in Al Shamkhah Area according to student geographical location.

Students of Al Bedaya C1 boy’s school shall be transferred to the new C1 School under the name “Al Qemmah School” in Al Shamkhah Area.

Students of Um Ammar C3 girl’s school and Al Qadesiyah C3 girls’ school shall be merged at Al Qadesiyah C3 girl’s school.

Students of Palestine C3 girl’s school and Aisha Bint Abu Baker C3 girls school shall be merged at Aisha Bint Abu Baker C3 girls school.

Students of Al Talia’ah C3 girl’s school shall be distributed among Um El Emarat C3 girl’s school and the new Al Reyada C2-C3 Girls (ID 1383) in Al Shamkhah area according to student geographical location.

Students of Al Janaen C2 girl’s school shall be distributed among Al Irtiqaa C2 Girls School and the new Al Reyada C2-C3 girls in Al Shamkhah area according to student geographical location.

Students of Al Thuraya C2 girl’s school and students of Fatimah Bint Mubarak C2 girls school shall be transferred to a new C2 girls school under the name “Fatimah Bint Mubarak School” at the location of the former Palestine School.

Students of Al Nuzha C2 girls school and students of Al Mafraq C3 girls shall be transferred to the new C2-C3 girls school under the name “Al Shawamekh” in Al Shawamekh Area.

Students of Maryam Bint Omran C2 girls school shall be transferred to the previous building of Al Mafraq school in Baniyas Area under the name “Maryam Bint Omran” .

Students who are promoted from Grade 5 to Grade 6 and from Grade 6 to Grade 7 in Al Lulu C2 girl’s school shall be distributed among C2 schools in Baniyas area according to student geographical location.

Students of Ajnadeen C1 girls School and Khadeejah Al Kubrah C1 girls’ school shall be merged at the building of Khadeejah Al Kubrah C1 girl’s school.

Students of Saffanah C1 girls school and some students from Omir bin Yousif boys school and Mohamed bin Al Qasem Boys School and Saad bi Obada boys school shall be transferred to C1-Co-Ed school under the name “Al Ezzah School” (ID1386) in Baniyas Area.

Students of Mussafah C1 Girls School and students of Al Emam Muslim C1 Boys School shall be transferred to the new KG/C1 Co-Ed school under still to be named in Mohammed Bin Zayed City.

Al Ain

Some students of Khalifa Bin Zayed C3 boys school shall be transferred to the new C2/C3 boys school under the name “Ali Bin Abi Taleb School” in Al Foa’ah Area, at the building of the former Ali Bin Abi Taleb C2 school according to student geographical location.

Students, who are promoted from Grade 9 to Grade 10 in Al Tafawwoq C2 boys school, shall transfer to the new C2/C3 boys school under the name “Ali Bin Abi Taleb School” in Al Foa’ah Area, at the building of the former Ali Bin Abi Taleb C2 school.

Students of Aasem Bin Thabet C1 boy’s school will be distributed among Al Sadarah boys school and the KG/C1 Co-Ed school under the name “Al Tomouh School” in Al Bateen Area according to student geographical location.

Some students in Al Gaith C1 girl’s school, Al La’alei C1 girl’s school, Al Tawheed C1 girl’s school and Al Sadarah boy’s school will be transferred to the new KG/C1 Co-Ed school under the name “Al Tomouh School” in Al Bateen Area.

Students of Al Shaheen C1 boys school and students of Al Tomouh  C1 girls school (ID 445) shall be transferred to a  KG/C1 Co-Ed school under the name “Alya School” in Al Yahar South Area.

Some students of Al Ain C1 boy’s school shall transfer to the C1 Co-Ed school under the name “Al Shaheen School” in Al Foa’ah Area according to student geographical location.

C1 (G1-G5) students in Al Foa’ah C1/C2 girls school shall be transferred to the new C1 Co-Ed school under the name “Al Shaheen School” in Al Foaa Area.

Students of Al Shera’a C1 girls school and students of Abu Baker Al Siddique C1 boys School shall be transferred to the C1 Co-Ed school under the name “Reefa’a School” in Al Yahar North Area.

Students in Al Ezza C1 girls school shall be transferred to the new  C1 Co-Ed G1 and G2-G5 girls school, still to be named, in Zakher Area.

Students currently in KG2 in Zakher KG, Al Ghadeer KG and Al Zayediyyah KG shall be distributed among the  C1 Co-Ed G1 and G2-G5 girls school, still to be named, in Zakher Area, Sheikha Bint Suroor C1 girls school and Mohammed Bin Khalifa C1 boys school according to student geographical location.
