A simple check in and out is enough to become eligible, but you have to do this often enough in order to be among the potential winners.

In the run-up to World Transport Day held on 1 November, a competition selecting the most frequent transport users in Dubai will kick off on October 20.

For every check in and check out, the commuter automatically collects 50 points, explained the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA).

Prizes will be given to 50 winners, with 10 winners selected in each prize category. Winners will be selected from the most frequent users of RTA’s public transport means who would be identified through NOL cards,” said Yousef Al Ali, CEO of the Public Transport Agency and Head of Public Transport Day Committee.

The first ten commuters who collect 1000 points or more will get a gold bar weighing 100gms. The next 10 commuters who have to amassed 750 points or more, will be rewarded with a Mac Computer. The third batch collecting 500 points or more will get an Apple Watch, the fourth collecting 350 points or more will get a headphone, and the fifth batch with 250 points or more  will get a Gold NOL Card.

Moreover, the RTA will conduct a daily draw on two gold bars, each weighing 50 grams at the metro stations starting from 20 October up to November 1.

In order to be eligible commuters will have to register their Nol card as a personalized card. This can be done through the Public Transportation app, the RTA website or on Metro stations. Commuters with a Blue Nol card are also in the draw.

The registration will prove useful on Public Transportation Day, when more activities are scheduled.

There will be the Hidden Envelopes contest (Find it. Share it. Find it) where 30 envelopes will be concealed in public transport means. The public will be briefed about the locations of these envelopes through RTA’s pages on social media channels. The person who finds the envelope is required to take a selfie with it, and share it these pages.

Further, a draw will be made for 10 of the most frequent users of mass transit means who capture selfies aboard public transport means and post them along with the hashtag of the event (#PTD2015). Prizes to win are GoPro Cameras, Beats Headphones, smart wrist watches (Fitbits), and self-balancing scooters, which can be availed immediately.

Interested participants are required to register their names online (https://rta.duplays.com).

Events will be held at Al Ghubaiba Bus Station from 9am to 6pm,” said Al Ali.

Apart from commuters, government representatives will also be challenged on this day. Government entities are invited to nominate team representatives to take part in a contest held in cooperation with the Dubai Sports Council (the Sports Organizer & Supervisor of the event)

“This contest involves a specific route including all means of public transport. Questions will be thrown to these teams which will be engaged in a variety of events en-route till arrival at the final destination.

“RTA has offered a cash prize for the winning team amounting to Dh20,000, followed by a Dh10,000 prize to the runner-up, while the third place finisher will get Dh7,000. Winners will be honored in a ceremony on 1 November at Burj Island Downtown, Dubai.

“Other events and contests include a variety of outdoor sports games at Burj Island, and Healthy Food Festivity where participants will be given symbolic awards.

“A medical check-up will be offered to the public at three metro stations (Dubai Healthcare City, Airport T3, and Union Metro station). A blood-donation campaign will also be carried out at Al Ghubaiba Station.”
