Hunt for the best Indian quizzer in UAE begins

Students from 58 Indian schools across the UAE will participate in the 2010 edition of Brain Hunt, an inter-school quiz competition conducted by Inspiration, part of Vision Tomorrow Group.

The annual quiz competition which has been received enthusiastically by Indian school students from 2003 will be held in live format at different locations with road shows in major shopping malls and schools across the UAE.

Announcing the next edition of Brain Hunt, that would kick off on November 5, Kannu Baker, Managing Director and CEO of Inspirations and the Quiz Master said quiz teams from the 58 schools would fight it out for a cash prize of Rs100,000 (approximately Dh8,200) and other prizes.

“The contest which challenges students to answer questions on a wide variety of topics, is open to all Indian schools in the UAE and each school can nominate their best team from Grade IX onwards. The contest will have road shows in schools and shopping centres across the UAE. The top six final teams will battle it out in the grand finale, after semifinals, quarter finals and other rounds,” he said.
The Brain Hunt Quiz Competition, which is popular among Indian school students and teachers, will be extended to other countries like Oman, Qatar and other GCC countries. The organiser is also planning a business quiz targeting Indian business community.

The quiz programme has roped in partners like Frankfinn Air Hostess Training Institute, Etisalat, South Indian Bank and others who target young audience.

Similarly, South Indian Bank, an 80 year old Indian private bank is partners in the Quiz competition.  “We are a next generation bank and our focus is on the youth and students. We conducted several programmes targeting this group. When we conducted an international essay competition about global recession, we received about 10,000 entries, including students from the UAE,” said Abraham Tharyan, Executive Director, South Indian Bank.

The second prize was won by an Indian school student from the UAE. Nine other Indian school students have received prize in the competition.

An estimated 22 million people from around world watched the Brain Hunt programme last year. It will be telecast live from the third week of November 2010 on Kairali TV, a prominent Indian television channel, he added. SIB would also be partnering Vision Tomorrow for the Business Quiz programme.
