Angry at her immoral behaviour, parents of Haseena, the housewife who eloped with a tuition master after taking the life’s savings of a UAE-based grocer, have expelled their daughter from the family. Her seven brothers too are much upset with her.

Speaking to Emirates 24|7, Mohammed Haneesh, who runs a fruit and vegetable shop in Al Ain, said he is very angry with her sister and still considers Ali Mon as his brother-in-law.

“She is our elder sister and had been living happily with her husband and children. We know how much he loved her and we were actually worried about his excessive care and concern for his wife and children,” he said.

Haneesh, who had worked as a driver for Ali Mon, said: “Part of the blame should go to him because he gave her too much freedom. It was not necessary for him to send her for computer courses because she was only a housewife. She became friendly with her current husband during computer classes and we had warned him several times about this,” he added.

Haseena’s younger sister’s wedding was held recently but the eldest sister was not invited. “My father is a good man and decided that she should not come home. What she did to her previous husband is immoral and wrong,” said the brother.

Haneesh said: “He loved her too much. While he did not eat or dress properly, he would buy whatever she needed. I fear that he was afraid of her good looks. He should have controlled her behaviour and as a husband he should have punished her.”

“When this illicit affair started, we had warned and told him to keep the tution master away. He did not listen and gave freedom to that guy. We are not punishing him, because we don’t want to have more problems,” he said.

“One of my younger brothers had scolded with my sister for talking to someone over the telephone late at night. She did not like it and misinformed her husband. Instead of scolding his wife, Ali Mon picked up a quarrel with his in-laws for harassing his wife,” he added.

“He was such an innocent guy that he blindly loved and trusted his wife. He has paid a price for his own mistake. He should have beaten her up or at least controlled her,” Haneesh said.

There have been many cases of wives ditching expatriate husbands in the past and it is one of the reasons behind some suicides in recent years.

In one case, an expatriate Indian worker was stuck here for two and half years as he was raising money to build a new house. “He could not go home for two and half years as he was working hard to make money for a new house. During this time, his wife eloped with another man,” said a social worker familiar with the case.
