A 34-year-old Indian supervisor allegedly molested an 8-year-old in Carrefour at the stationery section, the Dubai Criminal Court heard.

VAM, confessed to the accusation that on September 22, he was in Carrefour. “I saw a girl aged around 10 to 12 years at the stationary section. I went to her and touched her back with my body. Then I moved away. Again I went to her, but the girl told her mother who caught me and told the security at the centre."

The girl’s mother ZHS, 36, Iranian, testified that she went to Carrefour for shopping with her 8-year-old daughter RS.

“We were at the stationery section and I was checking school bags and she was a few meters away from me in the same section. Five minutes later my daughter came to me and told me that there was a man who tried to kidnap her and made her back wet. So I asked her to lead me to him. As he saw me he ran away and I chased him for ten minutes until I caught him. His trousers were wet, the zip was open. When I shouted at him why he did that, he apologised and asked me not to inform police,” she testified.

Talal Abdullah, 24, Emirati, who was at Carrefour and helped the woman in catching the accused testified that the accused confessed to molesting the girl and her dress.

The girl testified that it was crowded while she was looking at copybooks. “A man was behind me… I felt wet… I got scared and rushed to my mother,” she testified.

The accused confessed to the accusation and the court adjourned the case for verdict until December 4.
