ID card applications through e-form after Eid

The Emirates Identity Authority (Eida) is moving ahead with plans to implement the e-form for application and the old forms will be accepted only until Eid.
The manual form will be accepted for another week in Dubai and Sharjah, reported Khaleej Times.
Abdul Aziz Al Mamari, Director of Eida’s Public Relations and Marketing Department, said: “This will help people during the given period to register using the old form, but they must understand that the new electronic process is faster.”
“Fees, however, include Dh100 for each residency year in UAE, and Dh70 as service charge,” he said.
The authority would set penalties for those who do not register for the ID cards by the end of the year.
Dr Ali Al Khouri, Deputy Head of the Higher Committee at the Eida, said the penalties will be introduced by the higher authorities if residents do not register. “We are still studying the procedure; amounts have not been decided yet.”
The Eida is trying its best to inform people of the necessity to register for the card, Khouri said. “All those who did not register should do so as soon as possible, especially during this period, as the process takes a maximum of five minutes,” he said.
