Applicants for the UAE national identity card will soon be able to view their application and follow up their ID online when the project is launched by the Emirates Identity Authority, a newspaper said on Sunday.

The authority said applicants would be able to view all stages of their ID production, starting from giving their stamps to sending their cards to courier for delivery, the Arabic language daily said.

“Clients will also be able to modify their mobile phone number of PO Box while the ID application is being processed for the sake of accuracy and to ensure quick delivery of the card,” the paper said, citing an official statement.

More than three million people have been registered in the ID since the ambitious project was launched a few years ago.

Over the past two weeks, the authority and Empost have started to send text messages to clients’ mobile phones notifying them that their IDs are ready.

“We have contracted with Aramex along with Empost over the past two weeks to ensure the delivery of nearly 112,000 delayed cards to their applicants…clients can also get their cards at Empost offices,” the paper reported an official as saying.
