Illegal items worth Dh77m for HP printers seized

The UAE law enforcement officials executed the largest seizure of counterfeit printing supplies destined for HP printers since its anti-counterfeiting programme started in the region.

The company said in a statement issued on Wednesday that the full-scale raids on a warehouse, a villa and a retail outlet in Dubai and Ajman, will severely impede the trade in counterfeit printing supplies throughout the Middle East region and beyond.

It added that the dramatic seizure highlights the increasing local and regional success against illicit manufacturers and purveyors of printing consumables, including ready-for-sale laser and inkjet print cartridges, boxes and security labels. Over the last four years, HP assisted in the seizure of nearly nine million pieces of fake printing supplies products and components in Europe, the Middle East and Africa.

Earlier the police seized over 125, 000 printing material items worth Dh77 million in three raids in Dubai and Ajman emirates.
