A honey product sold in the UAE market for the alleged treatment of impotence in men may cause death as it contains banned medical substances that lead to hyper-tension, the health ministry has warned.
The product, branded Super Hard Power Tablets, contains substances used in Viagra and other medicines treating impotence in men, the ministry’s assistant undersecretary Amin Hussein Al Amiri said, quoted by 'Emarat Al Youm' daily.
“Our tests have shown that this product contains banned substances that will cause a sharp fall in blood pressure.
"This could cause death to persons suffering from heart diseases,” said Amiri, head of the higher committee for medicine control.
He said many persons rush to buy herbal products on the grounds they are 100 per cent safe, adding that they are wrong.
“These herbal medicines could be fatal or harmful if they are used excessively or without medical prescription, especially by old or ill people,” he said.
