It's raining heritage: 1,200 umbrellas @ oldest mall

Al Ghurair Centre, Dubai’s first shopping mall, is celebrating its heritage in the heart of Deira by installing 1,200 umbrellas.

Currently on display at Entrance 3, the spectacular display will be on view to the public until December 28.

A Dubai-based decor company was asked to install the umbrella art as the Al Ghurair Centre wanted a UAE flag-inspired piece to celebrate the end of 2013 and this year’s achievements, including winning Expo 2020 and the launch of the centre’s expansion with its ‘Soul of the City’ campaign.

Having taken four days to execute, this piece of street art echoes the urban vibe that the mall has been creating over recent months with street artists, urban acts and free, live, daily entertainment in the heart of Deira.
