A brave girl punched and used her karate skills on her attacker, Dubai Criminal Court heard.

On November 22, 2015, at around 10.30pm, AN, headed with some friends to a hotel in Al Rifaa area to attend her friend’s birthday party.

Before entering the hotel, AN, decided to buy some flowers for the birthday girl. She testified: “I noticed a man standing close to us. I think he heard us before suggesting that I go with him to get the flowers. So I went with him alone while my friends went to the party. He drove for about half an hour. I asked him several times where this shop was. Every time I asked him he said that it was nearby. He then drove into a deserted street with no street lights and locked the door.”

HK, 23, allegedly punched her in the face, tore off her shirt, and cut her gold necklace.

“I took off my shoe and hit him with it as he turned to touch me. He pulled himself back, opened the door, and got off the car. He came to my side, opened the door and asked me to get off and adjust my dress as he claimed that he would drive me back. As I got off the car, he pulled my hair and pushed me to the sand, sat on me and tried to tear off my skirt,” she said.

The victim took a bunch of sand and threw it on his face before punching him in the face.

The attacker stood up, started his car and ran away with the victim’s bag, which contained cash, mobile phone, passport, and ID card.

She then walked to the main road, took a car, and went to the birthday party and complained to police.

“I am a Karate brown belt. The attacker could not molest me because I defended myself and punched him,” said the victim.
