Liga Nacional de Futbol Profesional (LA LIGA) will establish its first regional office, outside of Spain, in Dubai Airport Freezone (Dafza). The office will act as a base to attract sponsorships, as well as promoting Spanish football teams in the Middle East and North Africa (Mena) region. The office will be operational by end-October.

The announcement was made during a meeting with Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman of Dubai Airport Freezone Authority, as he welcomed a delegation from the Spanish professional football league, La Liga. This delegation was led by Javier Tebas, President of La Liga, who was accompanied by Dr. Mohammed Al Zarooni, Director-General of Dafza.

Sheikh Ahmed said, “Dubai Airport Freezone has succeeded in partnering with one of the biggest names in the sporting realm. This only further confirms its world class facilities as both parties develop the grounds for a longstanding mutual collaboration through reciprocity and trust. Dafza will provide La Liga with a base to access the wider Mena to execute its promotional activities in the best free zone in the Middle East, as ranked by fDi.”

La Liga’s office in Dubai Airport Freezone will work as a chamber of commerce and promotion of Spanish football teams as well as broaden the Freezone’s wide array of business solutions and solidify its ability to cater its services to a variety of industries.

“There is no doubt that our partnership will enhance Dafza’s position as the premier base in the region for foreign investments,” said Dr. Mohamed Al Zarooni, Director-General of Dubai Airport Freezone.

Javier Tebas of LA LIGA, said, “Dubai Airport Freezone was our first choice for its prime location and attractive investment opportunities. The Freezone provides world class services and facilities that cater to our needs as we act as an intermediary between prospective sponsors and Spanish teams, closer to the Spanish soccer fans in the region.”

Among its many advantages, Dubai Airport Freezone is especially popular for its strategic location both as a city centre base and its proximity to Dubai International Airport. The Freezone has the ability to provide a wide range of modern facilities with state-of-the-art infrastructure, 100 per cent tax exemption, 100 per cent foreign ownership, no currency restrictions and benefits that are especially attractive to international investors.
