Light rains in UAE to add to winter chill

Fog this morning has not been as thick as yesterday or the day before but the UAE weatherman’s forecast of chances of light showers in some parts of the country over the next couple of days has kept UAE residents interested in the weather.

Foggy weather over most areas at first, becoming partly cloudy weather over some areas, and hazy at times – that’s today’s weather forecast, as predicted by the country’s official met department, the National Centre of meteorology and Seismology (NCMS).

The NCMS forecast adds that there is some chance of rain over the next couple of days. “The cloud amount will gradually increase over the islands and some northern areas, especially during evening and night, with a chance of light rain,” says the NCMS forecast for Wednesday.

The forecast also indicates “light to moderate winds at first, gradually becoming fresh especially over the sea.” The same winds could cause blowing dust/sand over the internal western areas by afternoon and evening, the weatherman says.

Motorists would do well to maintain caution and drive alertly.

A gradual drop in temperatures is expected towards the evening and night, according to the forecast. Minimum temperatures in the internal areas and the country’s mountainous regions are set to hit 13°C while coastal areas will see a more moderate minimum temperature of 15°C.

Tomorrow there might be a “significant fall in day temperatures,” according to the NCMS forecast, with a chance of some rain.

“Partly cloudy weather in general becoming cloudy at times. The cloud amount will increase over some areas, especially the northern areas, the eastern areas, and the islands, with a chance of some rain, and a significant fall in day temperatures,” says the NCMS forecast for Thursday.

NCMS is also warning fishermen to remain vigilant as the sea is expected to be “rough in general over Arabian Gulf and Oman Sea.”

Maximum expected temperatures today are 22°C in the mountainous regions, 32°C in internal areas and 29°C in coastal towns.
