Loose python blocks Al Ain City Centre traffic

Pest control staff get to the spot and captured reptile

Shoppers heading to Al Ain City Centre had an unusual visitor for company on Saturday afternoon - a royal python.

The one-and-a-half metre long snake strayed close to the mall in Al Sarooj area causing panic among people around and blocking traffic for quite some time, according to an 'Emarat Al Youm' report.

Though not poisonous, the snake is large enough to squeeze its prey to death.

Pest control company officials went to the spot and captured the reptile.

Investigations are on to find out how the snake strayed on to the street.
