The Dubai Criminal Court on Sunday heard that a housemaid and her boyfriend stole jewellery worth Dh45,000, Dh8,750 in cash and two cheques of Dh100,000 and cheque books.

The maid, RRB, 33, and her Egyptian boyfriend WFM, 36, a mechanic, are also accused of stealing marriage and divorce certificates, four birth certificates as well as passports from the former’s employer.

The Dubai Prosecution also accused RRB of giving house keys to WFM, which the latter copied, and assisting him in committing the theft.
The two are also accused of having consensual sex.

WFM is accused of violating privacy of the house owner Burhan Abdullah by entering his house at night and against his will.

Burhan Abdul Rahim, 42, Emirati, testified before the Prosecution that he suspected two maids of the house of having a hand in the missing of a safe from his wardrobe.

He reported the incident to the police and RRI confessed to committing the theft and admitted that her boyfriend with whom she

had sex in her employer’s house, had asked her for the house’ keys which he copied and used to commit the theft.

A policeman testified that the RRI confessed to guiding WFM to whereabouts of the safe and the jewellery.

When he knew from his girlfriend that there was no body in the house on December 17, WFM committed the theft, testified the policeman.
Police arrested WFM from his work place in Ras Al Khor. The accused confessed to using his employer’s mini bus for going to the victim’s house at Nad Al Hamar and transporting the safe.

The accused confessed that he picked the safe from the wardrobe, put it in the mini bus and drove away.

WFM also revealed that he stopped at Bani Yas Square and broke the safe. He emptied the safe and took the cash, jewellery and other precious items. He also said that he put the other items, including valuable documents such as passports, certificates and cheque books in a sack and threw it in the garbage bin next to the victim’s house so that someone would find them and hand them to the owner. The accused then got rid of the safe at Al Muteena area.

The police has confiscated the stolen items which are still kept in the mini bus of the accused’s employer.

The court has adjourned the case for verdict until May 11.
